Getting to know the Ladies

Whether it's joining in the roll up on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, playing in the Inter Club friendly matches or getting a bit of helpful coaching, the Ladies have a lot to offer.

LATEST NEWS

Hi Ladies

The weather since January has not be conducive for playing golf; the Winter Eclectic is still running and hopefully before the end of March those that have already entered will be able to submit a few more cards. Due to the appalling weather there has only been a small number of entries so far. Over the last couple of months, on a Tuesday, some of the ladies have been using the Driving Range at 11.00; as we have not had the opportunity to play golf this has been a great way to keep supple and too practice. Afterwards we meet for coffee.

As a Section of Bishopswood Golf Club we will be starting the coming golfing year with the Ladies Pre-Season Scramble on Tuesday the 24th of March; I have sent out an email to all Lady members asking if they would like to join in this Fun Scramble and this will be followed by lunch. If you cannot play but would still like to join us for lunch, you are very welcome.

Our first Ladies Inter Club Friendly match against Andover Ladies will be played at home on Thursday the 16th of April. I will be posting a ‘signup sheet’ in the ladies changing room in the next week. On our calendar we have 12 Inter Club matches, 6 to be played at home and 6 away. I am currently in discussions with another local club to add an additional fixture to our list. I will keep you posted on all of these matches and let you know when the ‘sign up sheets’ are in the ladies changing rooms.

The dates for the Ladies Competitions have been sent out to all members and a copy of these dates are on the ladies notice board. Our first Medal, the EWGA can be played on either Saturday the 4th or Tuesday the 7th of April.

The Ladies Coffee Morning will take place on Tuesday the 19th of May; so far, I have received a number of entries from interested parties. As normal there will be several stalls and a raffle. The Captain’s Charity this year is St Michael’s Hospice (North Hampshire). I will be looking for volunteers to assist in the smooth running of the day, to donate cakes for our Cake Stall and prizes for the raffle. I will keep you informed as we get nearer the date.

I am currently discussing, setting up a Summer Eclectic competition, that will likely run from April to September. There will be a 9 Hole competition to encourage the higher handicap ladies to enter. I will keep you informed of the details, but it will be open to all Ladies with a handicap.

The Club Diary will list all the Ladies matches, competitions and medal dates; as well as the mixed matches and the Club competitions that you will be able to enter. If you are interested in any of these and have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. The Club Diary will be available soon.

For those of you that use Facebook, there is now a Bishopswood Golf Club (Members & Partners only) Group. If you wish to join this group let me know and I will invite you to join. the page will keep you updated on social events, matches, photos etc.

The costs for the 2020 season have been sent out to you all as well as the reduced admin fee for this year. Can I remind you all to pay your fees etc. before the end of the month.

I am looking forward to the coming season and hope to see as many of you as possible on the course.
