Getting to know the Ladies

Whether it's joining in the roll up on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, playing in the Inter Club friendly matches or getting a bit of helpful coaching, the Ladies have a lot to offer.

Hi Ladies

I am not sure where the golf season went to, last time I updated the web page was June, so sorry for being so remiss, but I have kept you updated via emails.

A number of Ladies entered the Tadley Cup this year, this competition is for all members and is a matchplay, knockout competition. The ladies won through on a number of their rounds and Jenny Lycett played in the final and was runner up, well done Jenny.

On the 10th of October, the Ladies played the Seniors, we had a great turnout, 40 players, followed by lunch. The seniors won the day 5.5 to 2.5; next year we will make them work harder !!

Our End of Season 9 hole competition was played on the 15th of October, the weather was dry and the 30 ladies, the majority wearing funny hats, had a great time and we followed up with lunch and prize giving.

The Tuesday and Wednesday roll ups have continued through the season. Going forward the Tuesday roll up is being organised by Lesley Astley, Lesley is using ‘Whats App’ as a method of communicating and finding out the numbers of ladies that wish to play (on Tuesday). If you use ‘What’s App’ your name can be added to the list, so you can receive messages this way, if you want. Wednesday roll ups will continue to be organised by Jeanie McMullin through the winter months.

The Ladies Winter Eclectic started on the 1st of November. This winter competition is 9 holes only. If you wish to play in it, call into the pro-shop, the entry fee is £3.00, pick up a brown envelope, write your name and competition details and post the envelope and fee into the box outside the pro-shop. Each time you play you must sign into the pro-shop first, have your score card marked and then after the round post your card into the box.

I am going to organise a couple of fun competitions over the winter months (hopefully we will have some dry weather); the dates and details will be sent out via email. If the weather proves inclement on these dates we can meet up for a social gathering instead.

Our last scheduled competition for the year is the Mixed Christmas stableford; being held on Wednesday the 4th of December. The ‘sign up sheet’ is placed on the main club notice board with all the details and costs. Normal golf attire can be supplemented with Christmas jumpers, hats, tinsel, flashing lights etc.

The 2020 Ladies calendar is currently being checked by the Club Secretary and I hope to have this sent out to you all in the near future.

Date FOR YOUR CALENDAR - Thursday 28th November - Club AGM, commences at 8pm. It is an important meeting of the Club where decisions effecting all players are taken; it would be great to have a good turnout for the AGM from the Ladies Section, many thanks.

It would be great to have a number of dry, sunny days over the winter, so we can continue to play golf, hopefully I can catch up with some of you on the course.

Keep well.
