Coronavirus Covid -19 update 18th March
Coronavirus Covid -19 update
Members Only
Diary Event

Dear fellow members
You are all probably watching the news briefings with interest and you can see the governments attempt to prevent a mass infection occurring at one time.
It is therefor prudent that I advise you that all competitions are hereby cancelled from today. That includes the Winter KO's, so no further matches should be played.
This also means that we are postponing indefinitely the Summer KO's and any future medals and stableford competitions until at least the 1st May.
Whilst inter club matches play an important social part of our golfing calendar, it is in the interest of our members that we do not put them at risk by playing and gathering with others.
You already receive daily updates on the course status, and this will continue.
In discussions with Kevin Pickett our General Manager, we would like to advise you of the following golf course operational changes, due to the increasing transmission rates associated to the COVID-19 virus, we both want to ensure that we are doing everything we can to minimise the spread and ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all our members, course staff and the community as a whole.
Currently, the clubhouse is open but discouraged, with minimum staff and we will advise you as soon as possible should there be any change. The changing rooms are also open but discouraged, reduced to collect personal items, wash hands and use the restrooms. The doors have been propped open to allow contactless entry, so please be mindful of any belongings, you may wish to remove items from your locker.
Unless we receive clear instructions to the contrary the fresh air, exercise and social distancing possible on the golf course should provide a safe environment for members to stay active. To do this we need to make the golf course 'contactless' and the following direction should be taken:
1. Anyone experiencing any symptoms must refrain from visiting the Club or course.
2. You should wash your hands prior to arriving at the Club.
3. A social distancing of 2 meters should be kept at all times.
4. All bunkers have had rakes removed for the avoidance of doubt.
5. Putt with the flag in and do not touch or remove it at any point.
6. Members should decide when the putt is good, as you are unable to hole out.
7. Only touch your own equipment, ball and forgo any of the usual courtesies of picking up a club left beside the green.
8. Do not clean your golf ball with saliva.
9. You should wash your hands as soon as practicable after the round.
Bishopswood is a special community. We will get through this together. Stay safe and well.
Please look out for further communication, which we will be providing.
Bishopswood has a reputation for being a friendly club, and as a family we should be looking after each other. If anyone needs help through this difficult time, please do not be afraid to ask, help will be given where possible.
In the meantime, follow the governments advice, keep washing and sanitising your hands and please keep a look out for friends, relatives and neighbours.
I hope to see you all soon
Best Regards

Bob Mitchell
Club President
